Christian Youths Inc. CYI

Christian Music Hot & Smoking

 In the beginning...

November 1990 -- Five students from the San-Fernando Technical Institute’s Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship Trinidad W.I. decided to start a music group. Our average age was seventeen; we shared common musical abilities; and we all sought to serve God with what we did best. The group was started with an acoustic guitar, a little keyboard, and three singers. We decided to practice for the school's Christmas concert that would take place only one month away. Well, the big day finally arrived. We were very nervous and excited with what would be our first ministering encounter. While none of us were professionals, we enjoyed playing together even though our harmony seemed questionable at times.

In January the following year, we continued practicing, not because we had another event approaching, but because we wanted to sound better together. It was then that the band was named, "Christian Youths Incorporated". As time passed, more young people from various Full Gospel denominations joined the group. CYI's motto became "To Know Christ and then to make Him known". Each member of Christian Youth Inc. was actively involved in the affairs of their own church, and joined the group seeking to be more effective in challenging young people with their relationship with Christ in a bigger arena, while developing our own skills.

The group ministered mainly in the South and Central regions of Trinidad for many churches special events, youth meetings, rallies and also social gatherings. CYI members sacrificed a lot of their own money, time and efforts to be good at what we do, in order to share the Gospel effectively. Practices were on a regular basis (at least once a week) that would be held in various churches and homes of its members. Over the years, over thirty youths have been active members of the group. Many have left to pursue their own goals - work, studies, or ministry. While CYI was a ministering tool, it was also a learning experience for all that had passed through. We could not have accomplished what we had with out the efforts of our previous members.

CYI's ministry has now spread like while fire taking the gospel not only to the entire Island of Trinidad and Tobago, but to the Caribbean, US and as far as the United Kingdom.

CYI's music over the years have  evolved as the band grew spiritually and have touched many lives, old and young and have seen many come to christ as a result of the ministry.  Thanks for all the support and prayers!
